Cooperstown's ALEX & IKA is still good, but becoming a bit of a bore (7-21-14)

Our last night in Cooperstown was at our regular place we have followed for decades, ALEX & IKA (http://www.alexanderspicnic.com/#/alexandikarestaurant/) located downtown on Main Street.
Over the years since they moved from Cherry Valley to Cooperstown, the menu has stagnated a bit, and there are not too many new items, so we tend to get a bit bored.
Samuel stuck with his PORK POTSTICKERS and wouldn't even touch the Seaweed Salad (which was yummy) or the Wasabi Mayo, so this was already a bad choice for his variety in meal consumption.
We started with the wonderful Ika's Swedish Martini made from lingonberry, lime, aquavit and vodka and Will had the Monster Margarita, which was a bit too orange for moi!
Sesame Noodle Salad is always good here with Udon, Arugula, Cucumber, Toasted Peanuts, Carrot, Ginger, Kimchee, Sweet tamari and Ginger Oil. I chose to have this and another superb starter, the Seared LittleNeck Clams which was fine for me. Will opted for the  Fish Tacos which is a huge portion in itself followed by a steak. Our guest went for the Sweet Plantain & Goat Cheese Salad with kalamata olives, Gremolata & Balsamic Glaze followed by the Thai Coconut Curry with fried shallots, scallions and cilantro, a true veggie delight. Even the wine list has dumbed down to about a dozen bottles and we had the same Concannon Petite Sirah as last year, but this time it was 2012 vintage,
I think next time we may move over to Cherry Valley and try the RED HEN  or ROSE & KETTLE as these have been stalwarts in the nearby town for years that we haven't been to.
